So it begins...
I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences about Lite n' Easy in case any of you are interested in joining up and were curious how it worked or what the food is like. In case you are not familiar, Lite n' Easy (website here) is an Australian company that specialises in calorie and portion controlled meals and they deliver weekly food right to your doorstep. I don't want to go too much into it here as I will do a seperate post on how Lite n' Easy works.
I also wanted to share images of the food, not just so you know what Lite n' Easy is like, but for those of you that want to lose weight with me without joining. Even if you want to just do the dinners, the breakfasts and lunches aren't too difficult to replicate. With including the photos you will be able to see the portion sizes, how much food and how you should space your eating out over the day.
Week 1
Day 1 - Wednesday
15/01/2014
(My delivery day is Tuesday, the delivery day will be determined by your area)
(1200 Calorie. Summer 2014 - Week B)
Lite N Easy - Day 1 - Morning to Afternoon |
Wholegrain and Oat Toast with Apricot Jam.
The cereal and toast combination is very common with Lite n' Easy and you will see this quite a bit throughout the weeks. It is designed to make you eat a lot at breakfast to keep you feeling fuller to stop you snacking or getting hungry later in the day.
Note that the bowl of cereal isn't a full bowl though, if you can see by the spoon, it is quite shallow, but it will definitely fill you up.
Morning Snack: Fruit Salad Fruit Cup
Fruit cups are unfortunately common in Lite n' Easy. I say unfortunately because I'm really not a fan of them. I would much prefer fresh fruit but it's not a big issue.
It's important to eat the snacks as they are suggested by Lite n' Easy on the list of food for the week. The reason is because eating five times a day will speed your metabolism up faster than eating three times a day. Again, it's all about retraining the body.
Lunch: BLT Salad – Rocket lettuce, spiral pasta, parsley, cherry
tomatoes, boiled egg, bacon and French vinaigrette salad dressing. Pineapple bites (pineapple pieces with
passion-fruit juice)
Is this healthy eating? It is but it doesn’t seem like it. I am unsurprisingly usually a salad dodger but I have to give it to Lite n Easy, their salads are pretty varied and delicious.
The pineapple bites are lovely and sweet too, so it's almost like a mini desert after lunch.
Afternoon Snack: Tomato
Bruschetta
It’s a pretty yummy snack. I’m not a fan of cold tomato salsa, so I toast the Ciabatta and heat the tomato in the microwave for about 10-20 seconds (lid off).
Lite N Easy Dinner - Chicken Tikka Masala |
Dinner: Chicken Tikka Masala
This one is not bad but I’m not a fan of the sultanas. Did have a bit of excess water. I really liked the Tandori Chicken but they have removed it from the menu. Please bring it back!Additional Items: Coffee (homemade with low fat milk) 2 sugars
Glass of 100% orange juice.
Exercise: None.
Day 2 - Thursday
16/01/2014
Lite N Easy Day 2 - Morning to Afternoon |
Breakfast: Eggs Benedict (One egg, bacon, spinach, holandase sauce on chiabatta tast)
I love this breakfast, I think this is my favourite Lite n Easy breakfast.
Morning Snack: Pink Lady Apple
I love this breakfast, I think this is my favourite Lite n Easy breakfast.
Morning Snack: Pink Lady Apple
I love Pink Lady apples, not so much of a fan of the Red Delicious.
Lunch: Beef Rissoles with Walnut & Apple Coleslaw. Peaches & Apricots
This is okay. I’m not a fan of walnuts or fruit in salad, this one has sultanas too. The meat had good flavour, I think it was marinated, the texture is a little rubbery though. It's not so bad if you chop it up and mix it through the salad.
Don't ask me what the dark fruit is with the peaches and apricots, I think it may have been a prune.
Afternoon Snack: Lavosh Crackers & Cheese
Really like this snack. Lots of cheese. :D
Lite N Easy Dinner - Sausages & Onion Gravy |
Dinner: Sausages & Onion Gravy
The sausages and gravy taste nice, not a weird consistancy, like some of the meat can be. I consider this a small meal. On Lite n Easy I think some are smaller and some are more filling. The pumpkin looked awful so I skipped it. I usually avoid the pumpkin in the dinners as its not good.
Glasses of water: 7
Additional Items: Coffee (homemade with low fat milk) 2 sugars
Exercise: 3 Mile (4.8 kilometer) power walk with Leslie Sansone. (Youtube copy here).
Day 3 - Friday
17/01/2014
Lite N Easy Day 3 - Morning to Afternoon |
Compared to the other breakfast this one is quite light and I find I get hungry quicker when I have this breakfast.
Morning Snack: Red Apple
Lunch: Smokehouse Ham, Cheese and Tomato on a Round Roll. Granny Smith Apple.
The rolls are so tiny, just look at it in comparison to the apple. I usually hollow out the top of the roll just so I can fit all the cheese, ham and tomato on it. Even with it hollowed out the cheese and ham still hang out.
Afternoon Snack: Corn & Parmesan Muffin
These are really yummy.
Lite N Easy Dinner - Spinach & Ricotta Tortellini |
It doesn't really look that nice but I really like this one. The pasta can get a bit dried out so I stop it half way through and make sure all of the pasta is covered in sauce and that seems to work. Loads of corn in this so if you don't like corn, stay away from this one!
Glasses of water: 8
Additional Items: 2 x Chai Tea (some low fat milk, 1tsp sugar and 1 tsp honey in each tea)
Exercise: 20 mins 1mile walk Leslie Sansone (Can't find exact copy but there is a similar Youtube version here).
Day 4 - Saturday
18/01/2014
Lite N Easy Day 4 - Morning to Night |
I know that you are supposed to have milk with the cereal and the yoghurt separate but I usually just mix them together and find it works well for me.
Morning Snack: Orange
Lunch: Nothing
I know it's bad but the Blood Pressure tablets I'm on make me really ill. I feel like someone has kicked me in the guts and nauseous most of the time. I couldn't stomach lunch and the afternoon snack was all I could handle.
Afternoon Snack: Red Apple and Roasted Almonds
I took a spare red apple and the roasted almonds that was meant to be my snack and mixed them together.
Dinner: Chicken Dijon
I enjoy this one. If you like mustard chicken you should like this, not hot or spicy at all.
Glasses of water: 5
Additional Items: 450ml Coke Zero
Exercise: None.
