Thoughts on the last four weeks

Hi Everyone!!! I hope you will excuse me for falling off the blogosphere, I've been really ill and have been mostly bedridden (not in the fun way) for these last four weeks.  Remember my last post where I mentioned that I had a virus and was ill? (Post here). Well, it turns out that it was not a virus but something more serious.   For the last two years of my life I have had debilitating migraines, dizziness, nausea, vertigo, tiredness and the list goes on.  I've had several tests done, seen several doctors and specialists, taken different medications but I've never really had definite answers.

I have been diagnosed with Chiari 1 Malformation (read about it here), but no one is certain if this has been causing all my symptoms.  Recently I've been really weak, had shortness of breath even when lying down or talking, pain in the chest, muscle weakness (sometimes a pen felt heavy in my hand), muscle soreness, back and neck pain, vertigo and sometimes, when I'm at my worst, feeling like I'm going to pass out when I move or get out of bed.

I have had several tests done and even went to see another Neurologist.  I still don't have answers yet but I'm getting closer.  I also have Wolff Parkinson White (read about it here) and I'm seeing a Cardiologist in few weeks.  I am also going to see a Neurosurgeon soon and having several other tests done.

I have still been eating pretty healthy and trying to maintain regular meals, even if it's the last thing I want to do.  I know it's important to fuel my body and try to eat as healthy as I can as it's the most I can do for myself at the moment.  I haven't been able to exercise as the shortest movements render me breathless and if I do a little too much walking (not much at all), it makes the symptoms worse.

It hasn't been easy having to lie in bed for a month but it's made me think a lot.  My priorities have changed and I realise that if I wake in the morning, that's a great day!  If I wake in the morning and I'm well enough to be out of bed, even for a few hours, that's a fantastic day!  When I was at my weakest, I found my strength.  I don't want to give up, I want to do everything I possibly can and fight to win back my health.

I'm now almost at a 30kg loss!  It's just mind blowing for me and I never thought that it would have been possible for me to achieve, but I have! Well, almost ;)  Losing weight in the last month has been challenging as I'm not able to exercise, however, it has remained constant.

Goals for next week

I'm not sure when my next post will be as I have to listen to my body and rest.  The Neurologist has suggested that I try a Gluten free diet for a month and then a Dairy free diet the next month.  So no Lite n' Easy for me!  It's going to be a challenge but I'm willing to try anything for my health.  Gluten free here I come!
Don't worry, I can still have PEANUT BUTTER!!!! ;)

Hope you are all well, happy and healthy!

Love, Mel xxoxx
