Weightloss Week Three Day Two Lite and Easy (Lite n' Easy)

Day 2 - Thursday
30/01/2014

1200 Calorie diet
Lite n' Easy - Morning to Afternoon
Breakfast: Bacon, Egg & Mayo Bagel

I was expecting the egg to be a fresh egg and the mayo separate, but it was like a egg and mayo paste like you’d have on an egg sandwich, so that was a little disappointing.  I cremated the bagel in the toaster so next time I’ll heat it in the microwave first and just toast it a little.  It didn’t help that the bagel was cut thick on one side and thin on the other so it didn’t make for great toasting.

Morning Snack: Seasonal Fruit (Grapes)

Lunch: Thai Chicken Cakes with Crispy Salad and Chilli Plum Dressing
Pink Lady Apple

This didn’t look too great.  My salad was frozen because I had it near the back of the fridge.  I had to defrost it in the microwave for about 30 seconds, it worked.  The plum dressing looked more like an apricot sauce but it was all surprisingly tasty.

Yay for the pink lady apple, I was getting sick of the red delicious (the name is so misleading).

Afternoon Snack: Muesli Cookies

I love all Lite n’ Easy cookies, these are my favourite.

dinners for weight loss
Lite n' Easy Dinner - Roghan Josh
Dinner: Roghan Josh (#113)

Like most Indian food it didn’t look too appealing, don’t get me wrong I love Indian food but it just doesn’t make for the most visually stunning food.  The meal was quite nice, nothing special but decent.  I could taste coriander through the rice, which I don’t mind, but I know some people don’t.  The lamb meat in the curry was tender.

Glasses of water: 7

Additional Items:  Coffee (homemade with low fat milk) 2 sugars
100% Orange Juice (homemade five oranges)

Exercise: None

I’m disappointed as I wanted to do one mile a day but I can feel I’m getting sick, I'm tired and run down and I don’t want to make myself worse.  I know it sounds like excuses but I am really bummed I couldn’t.

Weightloss Week Three Day One Lite and Easy (Lite n' Easy)

Week 3
Day 1-Wednesday

weightloss blog
Lite n' Easy - Morning to Afternoon
Breakfast: Fruit & Bran Cereal with low fat milk and Multigrain Toast with Strawberry Jam

Morning Snack: Seasonal Fruit (Grapes)

I’m starting to get over grapes.  It seems like all I eat fruit wise is red apples and grapes.  They are nice but I wouldn’t mind a bit more of a mix.  Surely some other fruits are in season.

Lunch: Mexican Chicken Tender with Avocado and Fresh Salsa in a Wrap
Kiwifruit

Thankfully the avocado was packed separately so I didn’t have to have it on my wrap.  The chicken really was nice and tender and the salsa was good with it.

Diet snacks
Lite n' Easy Snack - Potato Crisps
Afternoon Snack: Potato Crisps
Eek! I completely forgot about my afternoon snack and it was chips! What’s wrong with me?  I ended up being really hungry after dinner and I wasn’t sure why as the Chicken Enchilada is pretty filling.  This was why.  So I had it after dinner which I don’t want to make a habit of.

As for the potato chips, they are pretty yummy but they are not your standard chip.  They are wafer thin, which is the perfect way to describe them as I'm pretty sure they are just wafer thin crackers baked in oil with salt.

Lite n' Easy Dinner - Chicken Enchilada
Dinner: Chicken Enchilada

I forgot how yummy this was! One of my faves! This one is filling too.

Glasses of water: 7

Low fat snacks
Homemade corn cob
As I said I don't want to make a habit of eating after dinner but I missed my afternoon snack so I had this and then the afternoon snack. Ooops!  It was nice to have fresh veggies again though, the Lite n' Easy veggies are just frozen veggies.

Additional Items: Coffee (homemade with low fat milk) 2 sugars
One glass of 100% Orange Juice
Half a Corn Cob – No additives, just wrapped in alfoil and baked.

Exercise: 1 Mile (1.6 kilometer) walk with Leslie Sansone.  I use soup cans instead of weights for upper body, I’ll work up to weights.

I can’t find the exact one I do but here is a similar one here on Youtube.

Who wants to do the 1 Mile challenge with me? I plan to do one mile every day this week and move on to the two, then the three etc etc.

Weightloss Week 2 Days 5 - 7 Lite and Easy (Lite n' Easy)

Day 5 - Sunday
26/01/2014

Calorie controlled diet
Lite n' Easy Day 5 - Morning to Afternoon
Breakfast: Bacon, Free Range Egg and Roasted Tomato with Multigrain Toast
I was so looking forward to this breakfast, bacon and eggs on a Sunday.  I opened the bag and the egg had cracked and the yolk had spilled out in the container.  They do put the eggs in a plastic container but obviously it can still get damaged.  So no egg for me today as I didn't have any spare in the fridge :(

Lite and Easy Week 1 Weightloss Journey - Week One Weigh In

Off the Blood Pressure Tablets
I went to the Doctor on Wednesday (22.01.14) and he said that my blood pressure was fine and since I took my last blood pressure tablet on Monday, it's now safe to stop taking them completely!  I was so happy to be off blood pressure tablets (was only on them about a month) not only for the health reasons but they were making me so sick.

Because of the side effects from the tablets it was really hard for me to complete Lite n' Easy successfully.  I did it but I missed several meals.  So how did I do?

Breakfast: Beans n' Bacon with Multigrain Toast

Unfortunately with Lite n' Easy sometimes this happens, the frozen bread is completely broken and there is no way to toast it.  Luckily I had a spare multigrain bread in the freezer.

Morning Snack: Pear Fruit Cup

I was out all day Sunday and I had my breakfast before I left.  I didn't have this snack until the afternoon.

Weightloss Week 1 - Day 1 - 4 Lite and Easy (Lite n' Easy)

So it begins...
I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences about Lite n' Easy in case any of you are interested in joining up and were curious how it worked or what the food is like.  In case you are not familiar, Lite n' Easy (website here) is an Australian company that specialises in calorie and portion controlled meals and they deliver weekly food right to your doorstep.  I don't want to go too much into it here as I will do a seperate post on how Lite n' Easy works.

I also wanted to share images of the food, not just so you know what Lite n' Easy is like, but for those of you that want to lose weight with me without joining.  Even if you want to just do the dinners, the breakfasts and lunches aren't too difficult to replicate.  With including the photos you will be able to see the portion sizes, how much food and how you should space your eating out over the day.

My Weightloss Journey - An Introduction

Why Lose Tomorrow
This Nutella was for prop purposes only and was never purchased or consumed by persons in this photo ;)
Hey internet, yes this is me, Melanie.
I weigh 148.8kg (328 pounds) and I'm sick of it.
I've always been overweight but in the last few years the weight has continued to go up...or should I say, out. This is the largest and most uncomfortable I have been in my life.  My weight has started to impact my life in several ways.

Medically
At the start of last year I started getting horrible migraines and would get them up to about 4-5 week. Along with nausea, dizziness (sometimes so bad I couldn't walk or stand), tiredness, confusion, and sometimes I would forget everyday words.  After several tests and an MRI I was diagnosed with Chiari 1 Malformation (I have a misshaped skull that forces part of my brain down my spine) but it was never confirmed if this was the culprit for all of these symptoms as I was born with this and never experienced symptoms until 31 years of age.  A year later and it has not been confirmed, I still have migraines.  The doctors have told me that weight will not help my condition and even a small amount of weight (6kg) would be beneficial.

Physically
At this size everything is pretty much uncomfortable most of the time.  I don't exercise and am not really active at all.  The smallest flight of steps leave me breathless, the slightest hill will leave my legs in pain and tired.  I tend not to wear dresses as my legs rub together and sometimes they are so raw I get sores.  When it's hot I sometimes get a red rash under my belly and so bad I get blisters.

Emotionally
It's so humiliating being this size. I'm a size 26 and it's hard for me to find clothes.  I hate shopping for clothes so much that I buy them off the internet to avoid embarrassment if things don't fit. I feel like I've gained a lot of weight but lost my confidence, happiness and personality.  I can't go to theme parks anymore as I can't fit in the harnesses for the rides.  I have to ask for a belt extension when I fly.  I get anxiety when I see a chair with arm rests as I don't fit in most of them and they cut into my thighs or side.  It's getting to the point now where I am scared to go outside for fear of people judging me.  I know they look at me and I know what they are thinking because I have thought it all myself.

Do I need more reasons to do this? I think not.  I'm not doing some new fad or diet,  I'm not going to starve myself or try to lose weight too quickly and I don't want to do this to lose a few kilograms, I'm in it for the long haul.  I'm pretty much twice the average persons weight.

I'm starting Lite n Easy.  Lite n Easy is an Australian company that specializes in calorie and portion controlled meals.  For more information the website is here.  I have been on Lite n Easy before, several times and it does work, but I never stuck with it.  But with all the previous mentioned reasons and more, I"m determined to go all the way with it and actually try.  I'm also doing the thing I hate the most, which is exercise.  Being this size I'm too afraid to go to the gym or having the general public seeing me exercise.  So I have several fitness videos I plan to do at home.

Well, there it is, all of my fears, concerns and humiliations that I have kept to myself for so many years all here for the world to see.  Why?  I don't want to hide anymore.  I don't want to make excuses.  I'm creating this blog to help me keep on track and hopefully anyone who wants to lose weight will join me. Lets motivate and support each other through it all.

So who's with me?  I would love to hear from you!
